What I LOVE about being a Stay-at-home Mommy & Wife!

motherhood May 24, 2023

A lot of people look down on stay-at-home mommies but I think it's such a great sacrifice to make! Now, this is not to say that anyone who isn't a SAHM is bad... there are pros & cons to every journey and every family dynamic is different. Today I just want to highlight what I LOVE about being a SAHM for those who have been turned off by the negative stigma. I don't view my portion as tasks "I have to" check off a list, but as opportunities, I get to experience! So let's begin!

1. I have to get to be present and active

I love that I get to be there for my family, like actually be there! I'm not always away on a business trip and sometimes it's best to just put the phone away and be present in the moment. Being a SAHM may cut you off from a lot of communication that you otherwise may have had if you weren't at home and I absolutely love that part of it! We need to be cut off from some things and redirect our focus to where it really matters. I still have many contacts since I run my own business, but I have the power to set my own hours, turn off my phone, and decline work.

2. I have to get to HELP my husband

According to the bible in Genesis 2:18, "The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." This is the reason why the Lord put us, women, here! First and foremost, as a wife, I know that my purpose is to HELP my husband as we work toward our vision together. If I'm never helping him but always helping myself, then why are we married? Things like cooking, cleaning, and taking care of our baby give my husband energy, peace, and encouragement to work unto the Lord and push us closer to fulfilling the vision.

3. I have to get to cook healthy meals for my family

I want my family to be around for years to come. That's why I try to limit spending money on fast food and make home-cooked meals the majority of the time. Check out some of my recipes on the blog! With a fast-paced life, it can be more tempting to cut corners and disregard the health of your family. When things are a little more slow-paced, you have more time to prepare well-thought-out meals and put your best plate forward for your family! *By the way, I have great respect for those women who still work a full-time jobs and find time to make home-cooked meals for their families, yall are the real MVPs!

4. I have to get to save my family money

We save on so many expenses we would've otherwise had! We get to use this money and put it towards other things, like vacations! As you all know, we LOVE to travel. After this, check out my blog on "5 Reasons to Travel with Your Kids." Plus I'm able to work my business from home so not only are we able to save money, but we're not losing any money either! 5. I have to get to protect my child

I'm literally with my babies 95% of the time. For the other two percent, I know exactly where she is, and with who, and it's for a very short amount of time. Like if I'm in church, they are at children's church or if we go on a date night I'll leave her with someone I trust. I know it may sound a little extreme to some, but our children need us. After God, it is our responsibility as parents to protect our children, watch over them and keep them from harm's way. Babies like to pick up every little thing and put it in their mouths. If I turn my head for a second, they are in trouble, but this is the sacrifice I choose to make as a mom. Not only that, I guard what my kids watch and listen too. They are too young to guard their own hearts right now, so it is my responsibility to do it for them as I teach them.

The Bible says in Proverbs 4:23, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."

6. I have to get to be flexible

I don't fix my family time around my work, I fix my work around my family. After God, my family is my #1 priority in life. My priority is to spend time with Him and them. My whole motivation for building streams of passive income is so that in turn I can have more time to spend with them. I don't just work to work, but I want to make sure all of our current AND future needs are met and those needs include quality time.

7. I have to get to pursue my dreams

My family is my dream... so I'm actually living it, but by God's grace, I get to pursue them more and more every day by serving them. When I was a little girl, all I ever wanted was a family of my own, to nurture and cherish and I'm blown away that God allowed me to begin this amazing journey at the tender age of 20. He is so faithful. If you desire to have a family of your own one day, don't give up hope. Know that it's an honorable desire to have. When God places a desire and a promise in your heart, trust and believe that He will make a way for it to happen. Lay those cares at His feet, and overall, put Him first. I'm praying for you & I love you.
